John returns for his fifth season at the helm of the NPHS Frosh-Soph team. With more than a
decade’s worth of coaching experience in the middle school trenches and his particular brand of
passion and enthusiasm, Coach John has the requisite background and personality to
significantly develop the young athletes in his care. In addition to his work at NPHS, Coach John
is the Head Coach of the Juniors Program for the Lava West affiliate of the Los Angeles Volleyball
Academy (LAVA), one of the largest youth and juniors programs nationally; in short, he knows
what he is doing when it comes to coaching young athletes. Blend all this with his passion for the sport and Coach John is uniquely positioned for and, indeed, dedicated to the
task of helping players grow as they transition into the competitive world of high school
volleyball. John lives in Newbury Park with his wife, Stephanie, and their daughter, Brooke—his
favorite teammate off the court.

Greg joined the NPHS coaching staff in the summer of 2017 and brings more than 20 years of coaching experience at the collegiate, club, and high school levels. His collegiate coaching background includes four seasons under legendary coach Al Scates at UCLA, six seasons with Jeff Campbell at California State University, Northridge, and one season with Christy Johnson-Lynch at Iowa State University.
Throughout his career, Greg has also coached alongside several individuals who have gone on to become head coaches at successful collegiate programs, including Head Coach J.T. Wenger of Gonzaga University, Head Coach Dawn Sullivan of University of Missouri, Head Coach Dan Conners of University of California, Davis, Head Coach Scott Wong of Pepperdine University, and Head Coach Brian Rofer of Vanguard University.
At the club volleyball level, Greg has coached with some of Southern California’s top programs, earning multiple medals at the USA Volleyball Junior National Championships with both boys’ and girls’ teams. In addition, he has directed summer camps and clinics and worked extensively in individual player development, helping athletes maximize their potential both on and off the court.
His passion for teaching the game, commitment to athlete growth, and wealth of experience have made him a valued member of the NPHS program. We are excited to welcome Greg back for his 10th season with the Panthers. Newbury Park High School is the only high school Greg has ever coached at, and as a Newbury Park resident, he considers it a tremendous honor and privilege to coach and mentor student-athletes in his own community. Greg is also honored to have coached alongside Head Coach Chris Forrest for the past decade and is deeply grateful to be part of a program that has meant so much to him and his family.
Tyler Galipo has several years of volleyball coaching experience at both the high school and club levels. She began coaching in 2019 as the Head JV Coach at St. Pius X–St. Matthias Academy. In 2021, she joined Simi Valley High School as the JV Girls Coach before serving as the Head JV Boys Coach from 2021–2025. At the club level, Tyler has been a Head Girls Coach at LAVA Volleyball Club since 2023, coaching 14s, 15s, and 16s teams. During the 2024–2025 season, she also served as the Assistant Boys Coach for the 16s team at SMBC Volleyball Club before becoming the Head Coach for the 16s boys team for the 2025–2026 season. In addition, Tyler served as the Head Frosh Coach at Moorpark High School during the 2025–2026 season and will serve as the Head JV Boys Coach at Royal High School in 2026.
Throughout her coaching career, Tyler’s teams have earned multiple competitive achievements, including silver and gold medals at LAVA tournaments, a 1st place finish at the Red Rock Rave in the 15s age group, a silver medal at Far Westerns in the 14s age group, and a division championship at the 15s level. We are looking forward to having Tyler join the Newbury team in her first year this year!

Brooke has moved from successes and accomplishments on the court to guiding the next generation of athletes off it and returns to coach the Newbury Park High School Girl’s Volleyball Program, her alma mater. A five-year club volleyball player who went on to spend four years playing at the college level, Coach Brooke is now coaching for local club program Reef VBC while pursuing her Master’s Degree in Psychology at Cal Lutheran University. At NPHS, Coach Brooke earned multiple team MVP honors working her way up from Frosh-Soph to JV to Varsity. She followed up with two successful seasons at Moorpark College before joining the club team at CSUMB, where she earned MVP honors in the Northern California Collegiate Volleyball League and helped lead her team to the Division II league championship. Brooke’s passion for the game, competitive spirit, and ability to build strong connections with players continue to make a lasting impact on incoming high school athletes.
